I do not like this state as not born out by observation. Pit bulls are responsible for a disproportionate amount of mischief. That is very much a function of owner mentality as owners I deal with are more combative and otherwise hard on dogs because of the their reputation as a breed.

You have rough in both although those with dogs only are a lot more common. I appear to be the only game fowl person in my county yet there appears to be well over a hundred pit bull owners that are second only to lab owners.

True, but it is the rough and unsightly living conditions and animals that make the argument so easy for those opposed to keeping such dogs and fowl.

In my opinion pit bulls are not the most aggressive breed by a long shot, but they do some of the most damage when they do attack. Ever had someone report a bite from a yorkie? Nope. You laugh and shove the bugger away. I have done exactly that before. The large 'dangerous' breeds have more power and therefore deal more damage, leading to reports and a disproportionately high 'aggression' rate. I suspect that the owners are at fault for all except a minute percentage of cases.

I foster dogs, and I have had a few pit bulls (used as a generic term) come through. They have all been annoyingly friendly and thrive on attention. Very loving things.

That is part of the reputation. Still, of dogs running loose here, pits are more prone to be problematic and to be backed up by an aggressive owner. It is a pattern, not a hard and fast rule. Some pits, majority, are very good dogs and their owners are easy going humans as well. It is just that pits are a higher percentage a problem.

I am not arguing one way or the other. I think a lot has to do with upbringing and environment, but, just like in gamefowl, a capable and skilled animal can inflict a lot more damage than a little pocket pet toted around in a suitcase.
