35 to 40 in pasture, weeds high making direct counts difficult. half dozen in actual yard. three clutches in process of hatching and two clutches apparently lost to rain. i don't want more than 80 in any one month period because of free-range space issues.
I just wrapped up combining some to broody pullets in with stags and cocks as pairs. Cocks in general get along well with their new pen-mates but the stags are a mixed bag. Pullets often want to avoid those stags. I think I can see difference in stags that pullets do not like. Unpopular stags are doing a lot less deep talking to the pullets. This is really evident with stags penned next to cocks. Many of the stags are borderline when it comes to coming into their courage. I am going to try to isolate some stags more from cock area and see if interactions with introduced pullets improves.
I had lot of fun with it, some good comments, lol
some lady bought it
I had 4 lots/boxes of 9 chicks each, it went for $4, the other 8 did $1.25ea
the other 3 he sold by the box(not by the head), they did $5 a box
pretty discouraging, lol
