It’s not overly difficult to catch a problem raccoon that is already visiting or killing chickens. Just about any food will and has worked. It’s a different thing entirely trying to significantly thin the herd during different times of the year. Meat and fish rots in hot weather becoming less appealing. Doesn’t have much long range scent either. Sweet stuff works but not the same and a lot of baits em will gum up the trigger and freeze in cold weather. Good lures work very well. Havart brand cages suck. The duke dp traps work but they aren’t the best. The best are push pull DP traps with a circle trigger. Not legal everywhere though.

I like many have a few cats running around outside so cat food isn’t the best choice lol. Gets annoying letting cats out of cages. One in particular didn’t mind getting caught at all. I’d have to release him again before I made it back to the door. At first i thought how stupid can this cat be. Actually he’s pretty smart. He eats, I let him go rinse and repeat.

Someone is killing more predators than I have chickens. Time to make your corridor less attractive.
How do you propose this? I have young birds loose. Maybe I can plant something or some other kind of magic you’ve managed to think up would work.
You speak all the times of “back in the good ol days” we had “walks”. The only reason that worked was because trapping was far more popular as fur prices were better.

I have electric fences around all pens. I’m just protecting my free ranging birds while they mature. It’s actually not that hard. You have to spend more time actually trapping instead of posting tutorials about how to videotape raccoons and possums not entering your traps in the predator forum.

No, we seldom trapped as not economical. Use of hounds was far more effective. Traps worked better in areas where fur bearer density was high. I am very well aware of requirements for walks as have be stating that for years on this site. Probably longer than you have even been aware of games.

I have a purpose other than being a piss ant. You should try to be helpful in some manner.
