Check closely for lice. I have one like that where live not evident. He is scheduled for eating. A squirrel tail is going done the same track even though he is likely and incubator error.

Don't let those other guys get a hold of him, they will use him for brood stock.
What does that mean?!?
He never had that issue while he was under his care.
No lice, no artificial incubation either.

Has anything changed same feed an all? I haven't a clue buddy but I'd probably wait it out see how it pans out.

I’ve got one thats similar but not quite as bad. He does not have lice or mites. Ill ship em to whoever wants him. Lol
I was in a hurry picking on the guys from the east cost. Real busy working on papers.
I have kept such birds through a subsequent molt cycle and did not see a repeat. I have also had a couple stags that molted like that and they had other issues causing me to cull. If you have others of similar value not showing the problem, then my suggestion is cull that particular bird.
