Do they normally have such large combs on them?  Most of the the single combs I have are pretty small on the females, but some lines really vary.

Yeah both Joe Redmond greys and redquill hens have larger combs. Outside of games. Anconas and blue andulusians have really big combs. The Ancona hen I have looks like a rooster from a distance.

Yes I have seen that color before, usually when I used to cross solid white with solid black. Very pretty

Do you think they share any blood somewhere down the line? I think it was Centra that pointed out it is a similar color pattern, just different colors.

Brassy back grey cock. Toppy asil hatch clarret grey. This guy was bred to asil hen but not grey hen. His taller brother was bred to my tojo bennet grey hen

I wouldn't breed a cock with that many crosses. Just my opinion.

Joe Redmonds as far as I know originally were made up of redquill and grist greys. That's where the pattern comes from grey just trumps the red.
