You trying to say that isn't a desirable trait?
Very good advise. I typically follow these guidelines but I have a hard time emotionally. These chickens are like my kids. I know which ones are second string but I still have the emotional attachment to them and I tend to see good traits in all my stags/pullets.Just a litte tip. Classified your adult fowl in two sections (quality talking), #1 and #2, Any # 2 cull them, sell them to a lower demand person.
From young fowl which most likely are the experiment, cull anyone you know will not qualified d ue to notorious inferiority compare to his/her brothers/sisters. Also Excessive pullets. Experiment just keep one the best one instead of keeping 2 or more.
lol gotchaNo not at all I started Typing stuff about spurs and stuff but thought I might get reprimanded so I backed out
I do have a lot of birds but I've culled a bunch. Probably more than you have total. Don't assume I'm just keeping eveything. I have pics to prove it if you want me to send you some. They will make you sad though. Lol. I've still got a few more to cull also. Unless you want me to ship them to you.Very good advise. The other problem is I fill my pens every year with the best stags/cocks. Then I breed these best cocks. Now who do I keep?.. The best son or do I keep the father? I would like to let the son grow up too see how he fills out but that leads to a yard full of free range stags (like I have now).
Without an end result for these chickens they tend to collect. My wife says not to breed them.. All my friends (including you guys on the forum) say don't get emotionally attached. Except @roosterhavoc
, he builds new pens to keep all his, so he doesnt get sad![]()
