I've only had one rooster out of a bunch that couldn't be calmed down. It was a hatchery stock Easter egger, ( that's the problem right there). He would be decent for a few weeks and then he would start it up again. Spent many hours with him just to see if it could be done. There was no fixing this fella. Wasn't too nice with the hens either.

So I just went out side to hang out with the birds for a minute. Rooster got me once. I kept cool grabbed a hand full of feed, and let him eat out of my hand for a few minutes.

Thanks for the good advice centra. I have only one who's ever been a man fighter and that's my black. But I didn't get him until he was a stag. I always herd the blacks where more wild acting than other breeds. But I'm going to give it a solid try to reverse it. I usually try not to get mad when he gets me but I'm not gonna lie I just want to punt him across the yard when he gets me. And he's not an all out man fighter flogging you when you walk in, he likes to sneak up behind you when your not looking.

If practical, then simplify his environment by penning him away from other birds in a location easy to get to and where you frequent more than any other containing birds. If he does the sneak up behind, then provide him all the changes we wants by turning your back on him and standing. If he attacks then step backwards.

Some strains reputed to be man-fighters but at least some of those in hands I saw were not well versed in handling.

A pair of Bates hatch, they will be 3 years old come spring. One out of every 100 or so will be spangled.

Interesting... Is the hen in the background 1 out of 100?

Looks like they are new to that coop... The grass isnt eaten and the leaves are not trampled..

Yes she is a rare one and I moved all my 4x6 pens last night. I normally rake all the leaves away from the area but my brother was helping and said to let them have something to scratch around in. Oh and yes they have them a new pen to play in too.
