This hen is mother or sister of cock above. She lacks a copy of gray gene. She was very old (>8 years) at time of photograph so likely the mother. Only thing I know for certain is what line they represent.

Centra do you still have any grey bloodlines?

Negative. That and dark both lost. I am looking all over KY trying to find remnants of what we used to have to test breeding it back in. Brother gets out looking for me when he can.

SDM111 you have been quiet for a while...

On the show off your Games thread someone posted a Blue OEG that looks a lot like your variety with the dark hackle but light blue/grey body... pretty nice looking
Yeah I'm around been real busy with work, mardi gras, work, and local chicken stuff oh and did I say work lol. I checked him out pretty cool looking.

For u genetic gurus totally hypothetical of course if one were to cross say a half mug half warhorse over a ruble hatch hen would u say it would show more red or black? The cock in question would be all black except some deep red in hackles.

I assume the Ruble Hatch is Wheaton based. If it is like the Mugs I have seen with the extended black coloration, then you will get black birds in the first generation cross.
