Hatch was last name of orginal developer of the line. Most game lines are so named. Some names have reference to color.

So whats a brown red? Or is that such a thing? Ive heard this breed name thrown around but I was wondering if they were saying it wrong

Brown Red are crow-winged with nearly black breast. hens tend to run dark and chicks hatch black to to chocolate brown.

I do not know particulars of that line but if it is referred to as Harold Brown Hatch then his starting point was assumed to be dominated by Hatch in its background. Appearance often differed in some way between Hatch lines as a function of introduced blood and / the breeders selection process. Random chance also plays a role. The competition at the time also plays a role with respect to style.

Jeremy look closer at last image and re-estimate ages of some of the older chicks.

There is 3 in there that hatched 2 or 3 days ago and that bigger one is that pumpkin hulsey chick I took a pic of i just put it in the wrong box all the others hatched out last night

plain to see. Guess it was the pumpkin that had him questioning you hatching 3 week old chicks.
