I'll pm u later I may incriminate myself lol. I will say to me no 1 is heart. U can change other stuff but they either have heart or not to me and not to be confused with aggression

Yes, I agree, it should be all about heart, but those darn looks always creep into the decision...
 

throw back pic pure narragansett i lost this family 17 years ago i just found the man that got them and the murphys i held on to the murphys this whole time only because i sent a few trios to a good friend i might be on the trail of the narragansetts note the low set spurs this family was the most unifore family i have ever had i had 20 males the first year i had them and thay where all like peas in a pod....
 
For me heart is #1 (must)
Color- legs, feathering, eyes (must)
Shape- body, feathering, wing length (must)
Legs- length and size (must)
Size (points)
Attitude (points)
Character (points)
Station (points)
Dominance (points)
Favorite (points)
Most of my brood pullets come almost identical, so culling normally takes me a little longer. This year one of my hatch pullets came green legged, I've only had 5 of them come with green legs in 33 yrs.

Awesomeness! The Narragansetts are very rare now days, I can remember when I seen one they always stood out above the rest, they had a big heart to. I hope you can get that guy to share his pure ones.

I tend to pick based on dominance and size. Basically the alpha males and females of the yard.

Heart is important but if they arent the right size or low in the pecking order they arent worth breeding. Small size is a lingering curse, it can effect generations of fowl. (I know personally)

Although its really all about combining the right characteristics to produce great offspring. A big dominant rooster over a smaller hen with tons of heart will probably produce a great battle cross.
