Thanks for the kind words SDM. Yeah, I saw birds like your miners when I was a kid and always thought I wanted to own some one day! They are a real pleasure, thanks for sharing them. You mean these two? Is this male blue? He is so dark, but he does not look black and not quite blue, so I am just not sure. I think he will be beautiful as a cock bird, as I think the breast feathers will lighten a bit and the lacing will become more distinct. It is a n earlier pick of him and he has more orange in him now.
He will probably look like this.

They were developed from two game breeds, Old English and Malay. They weren't bred to be game, they are exhibiation (show) fowl that have the exaggerated look of a gamefowl. After cockfighting was banned in England. I had a Modern Cock that died in an accidental fight with another one of my other roosters, when he escaped one day. Both were tore up, but the modern didnt survive. Is that Game? Id say yes he was...
No way!! Not even close. 99% of roosters will fight. Big deal. I've had a dark brahma rooster and a black langshan beat each other bloody and within an inch of dying. Just because a quail on stilts didn't make it don't mean it was game.

fought to the death = not quitting.
U said accidental. I was assuming you weren't there to stop it or see how it went down. Depending on what the other bird was they both could have been weenies.

Rooster, is he black? He looks black from the pic, and the stag I have looks like that, but the feathers on his breast are laced, almost as if they are blue, but very dark.

your right, I was only there for the aftermath. I didnt see what happened.

The surviving rooster has two broken spurs that wont grow back, because of that incident.

The modern could have just ran the whole time..... but I dont think so because I caught him in a previous incident with my 6-7 lb grey, where they were both still locked in mortal combat and completely exhausted.
