I wouldn't grab his tail though. I don't put too much into whether or not he's mean in his pen. I judge it after I let him out. If he fights me to pick him up then. The ones that annoy me the most are the ones that square me up outside the pen, I have two that will do that after being outside the pen for a bit. Even after calming down. Imo these are manfighters. The others are just high strung/nervous. Problem is one of em that ain't too terrible bites like a hyena at first. Msn he hurts real good.
yeah he isnt that bad.

I grab the base of the tail usually, but dont pull on it or anything.. just to stop him and then I reach under his chest adn pick him up that way.

Is it not good to grab tail? seems to be the best way when they are jumping into fences.

Sometimes you may have to I suppose. I just push em down toward the ground from above their back and then scoop em up with my other hand under their chest. Prevents them from swinging around on you which they can and will do if you grab their tail. Two of mine are lightning fast. I can flip one on his back in my arms and he will shuffle d*mn hard the entire time while on his back. I have the scars on my left arm to prove it. He's a beast. He'll break head high and can get up there in a hurry, kinda dangerous but I like him.

Shubin, seems to me every bird is a little different and needs to be treated differently. Some just don't like being handled, others love it. Some I can reach right in and scoop them up with one hand. Doing that to others will get you pecked. It all depends.

if im not mistaken they can, if scared enough shed the tail. but im not sure . when I was bearly into my teen years that might have happened once or twice to me . grabing at the scared birds their feathers would come out easy. not exclusive to tails

If you grab the base near the tailbone that won't happen. If I had a tail and somebody pulled on it I think I would be firing away at whatever had got a hold on me. Then again in the phillipines it's a handle so what the h*ll do I know. Lol

yeah, I have a buddy who just snatches at them 1 handed. seems rough to me but gets them every time, this guy loves his birds gives all his birds that expensive Mexicali mix . I just cant afford that but I do give them a lot off fruit, my pops would get in the cage and grab two handed . I use one hand on the grab

Here ya go shubin. Yard birds. God are they annoying, I'm constantly tripping over them. About half of em here

Haha I know but man they really pull on em good. Then again at that point a few missing tail feathers is spilled milk.
