yeah I'm feeling old now!

The earliest I can remember seeing what later I found to be game chickens was around 85-86 a friend of mine's dad had some next to his pen of walkers. Thinking back they were greys. On another note someone I know has a walker as a chicken protector excellent dog she has visited me a couple times. Been thinking about getting one myself

Good morning! I guess if I didn't have these Shepards I'd probably have a Great Pyrenees. A friend of mine bought 2 of them and every time he turned his back they were killing his birds. My brother has a Pyrenees that's a very good dog. I guess you could get a good dog or bad dog in any breed.

A great Pyrenees and my property would not be conducive to my sanity lol. I'm sure ole boy didn't think " hey I need a chicken dog so I'll get a walker" but she sure has done a good job and real good with the kids too. not as hyper as I would have imagined but she is "freerange" whenever I go over there she's almost always laying flat on her side in the back in a Sunray with hens walking around

Current chicken watch dog
Not really doing as well as I hoped

When I was a kid my father had lemon walkers and razorback walkers. The razorbacks wasn't worth the food they ate so they didn't stay long, back then using dogs to run deer was a big deal with all the hunters.

I think any dog could be used if trained properly. Some would just need more training and patience on the owners part.
