Hennie hatched 0/6 eggs. Bad girl
I've had 3 different hens do that this year, but I noticed they had scratched all the sand and hay out of the nest too.
thats a shame. I have a few single penned hens that eat the eggs and scratch the scraw out.

This hennie just left them uncovered for too long.. I actually remember the day that I questioned her length time off the nest...

Oh man. I bet you scared the h*ll outta that coyote. He won't be back im sure of it! You can breathe easy now. Lol

Cull her lol
Nah I have a hen setting on eggs that I'm not sure will hatch. I swapped out her nest awhile back since she wasn't on fertile eggs. She quit on me but went back after close to 2 weeks after laying a few more. Got another day or so and I'll find out I guess.

First year and first try on a nest..

. One egg had been crushed and had a feathered chick inside, so she got close. She sat 25 days, before I pulled them.

Ill give her another try.

I've got a game hen raising some chicks and I found a dead one in the pen with one of my roosters. It had apparently jumped through the fence. Do games generally do this or is he just a bad rooster? I've not had game roosters very long but have always loved the game hens.

I've got several hens that'll kill and mutilate any biddies that come in the pen with them when they have biddies of their own, I have a ruble hen that kills them just for getting in the pen with her, biddies or not. A couple of the hens that will attack anything, dogs, cats, other hens it don't matter.

So far so good with the chicks jumping into other pens. Roosters and hens all have been fine that I've seen. Hopefully it stays that way.

I've got a ruble that kills any trespassers and a Murphy that'll kill and mutilate the biddies and jump all over the German Shepherds, she'll fly across the yard chasing the Chihuahua. (Hens)

Blue hen that got chicks unleashed holy h*ll on the peacock two days ago. Funniest thing I've seen in awhile.
