That's my original pair of leipers. She was sitting on eggs too. Got em in the incubator now. Obviously raccoons have been hanging around. I should drop them off on the electric company's door step. B*stards!
Nonetheless by my estimation 6 raccoons must go. I can assure a gun will not be used. These two had their heads pulled off. Eye for eye. Don't think these raccoons read much Kant.
Sorry the bandits struck.

I worry about Racoons, something last night was borrowing in the raised garden beds a few feet from my bird's coop... dug the hell out of my beds. Now I am worried what it was, and I do not think it was a mole, I have seen their holes before and this was different. I just got home so off to check the girl's...

Unrelated Question: Have any of you all used Barely Water as a watering option in the heat or for other reasons?

Has anyone lost any birds due to the electric fence?
Are you asking if the electric fence kills birds flypen? I don't trust the fences enough for my birds. Not for fear of birds getting hurt by the fence, but more for critters outsmarting the fence. I use fences for our gardens and orchards, but they are not as valuable to me. I like running a lower level of woven wire so the critters have to climb a little to get to the first electric strand. It is easier for me to keep the electric free of weeds and grass that way.

I don't have that many birds, but after losing some to coons, I just decided it was better for my piece of mind to make the pens coon proof at night. I realize that is not practical for those with more birds.

Sorry to hear about the losses. That is never fun. We have had a lot of coons this spring. So far I have set the box trap the past 12-13 nights and have 11 coons and 1 possum! It's crazy this spring.

not any of mine so far but little ones have gotten out so I'm kinda waiting for it. l have pulled a few dead wild birds off that tried to walk through and a bid red tail that tried to grab a bird in a dome he hit the fence and the ground at the same time swooping to the pen

I have to unplug mine during the day with all the baby chicks running around. I've got some little ones that i don't want to touch the fence.
4:45 this morning they are out running the yard already, all the mommas are raising hell to get out with them. So there I sat gun in hand waiting for the sun to come up.
