due to a what?Sadly lost the cock due to my Turkish hint getting out and killed him while I was gone but I've got the chicks from him and the hen I crossed him with was his mother 2 year old hen he was only 10 months in that photo
People cross breeds all the time, one plus of BYC is they often talk about it and post pictures of their results including meat bird/dual utility experiments, even showing how the cross dressed out. If I was breeding for bigger meat birds I think Cornish or Brahma Rooster would be good, someone on BYC uses a Brahma Rooster to breed with their other birds to beef up the size and they always sell the extra chicks okay as people around them like how much meat the mixed chicks put on.i was talking about for trying to make a larger Barred Rock cross. but also going some pure bred brunners too. i figured the brunner would give it more thigh meat and height. so im trying to find a good way to cross something noone else has done before
I'd advise not best to buy on eBay its getting rather hot for that or if you do go straight to the incubator or hen no "rest period" I'm convinced after a long hot ride the embryo starts developing then when rested on a counter for a day or so at 70° temps kills any developing embryos. Okay everyone tell me to stay away from e-bay, good lord the hatching egg selection has me drooling, hubby will be cross if I buy hatching eggs (expensive risk), but so many breeds/lines. I have a hen who wants to go broody. I suggested Trader Joe eggs just to see if she could hatch them. I tried pitching it as an experiment but he was not open to that idea.
ohAseel cock got out if his pen and must of broke his neck
