Cooper's hawk was on the ground chasing birds today. I saw em scatter from the couch and ran out screaming. He took off but he'll be back. Chicken sh*t hasn't been back today though. Don't know why I'm just sitting out here trying to get a picture of him
**** he musta wanted them bad. U should catch him and train him

Can you tie off a couple cocks where hawk comes in after your juveniles. Coopers will not come in on me where cocks can get at them.

yes I will try tomorrow. I still have a few that haven't started molting yet. Thought about it earlier but it's so hot and some of my stags will challenge the cock on the cord.

Rock and a hard place. This year I am having stags that are well shy of grown challenging cocks through pens making me pen sooner than I like.

I'm new to chickens, what do you do with a bunch of rosters? Why do you have them? How much space does a tied up cock get?
Sorry

These days a lot of people treat them like irises. They are for looks and bragging rights as to how well you have bred and cared for them. You have certainly seen fancy yards with well organized plantings / landscaping. The roosters are much the same. I use them for experiments and educational tools where multiples are used for replication and more than one is needed for trips as trips like I take them on are stressful or involve getting fed to much.

Space, think 10 to 20 foot radius per rooster. I like to rest ground so multiply that by about 4.

Flypen, I don't know how easy its gonna be for the folk u know to recoup from the loss of birds. Don't know if they can get their blood back hopefully they have some spread out but if not they welcome to whatever I got in the spring. Eggs, chicks whatever.

Barrels could work for some but they would have to be secured to the ground very well. If the current washes away vehicles barrels wouldn't be nothing. Depth would obviously be a factor but I think current would be more so an issue for most
