Short story:
About two weeks ago I looked outside and saw my wife talking to some girl in the front yard. Come to find out she wanted to see the chickens, said she drives down my street just to see them. My wife told her she was going out so she would have to come back another day. Anyway I've seen her car go by many times in the past. Haven't seen it since. My wife said she seemed kinda bold about it.
I have nothing to hide and I probably would have let her look at them. Just makes u wonder. All kinds of clandestine animal ninjas around. Lol

I had similar to that although not with chickens recently. It is part of the risk of doing business.

I completely agree. Most have something to hide. Drugs, previous crimes so they are already being watched. The problem is the news headlines reads "man busted for breeding birds fighting". Vitamins also found on the scene! While I understand there are certain labels on products that don't look good that is not burden of proof! H*ll I take enough vitamins, preworkouts, post workouts, etc.. I don't fight in the ufc! When I see pictures of
B12 vitamins listed as cockfighting paraphernalia that is sold at tractor supply something isn't right. Granted if someone is found with something illegal then they throw the book at them which in itself is ridiculous also. A man was charged with selling birds with the "intent" to fight". Evidently he was. That's fine and dandy but then they tacked on 65 counts of animal cruelty for each dubbed rooster he had. Ha that's absolute bullsh*t.

Most birds I do not dub for that very reason. It seems to be tripping mechanism for some. Where it gets cold you can justify in part the benefits provided with respect to frost bite.

I feel for all the people affected down there. If anyone knows anyone specific in need. Anything I can do to help I will. I do not donate to any organizations though.
H*ll I'm out in the yard today sweating my *ss off p*ssing and moaning when I have it pretty good compared to all that flooding.

sorry to go back but I'd like to respond. I/we don't give monetary donations either but we do give to food banks and buy like dinner plates for half way house fund raisers. We going now to bring food stuffs to a red cross shelter for my wife's work food drive.

Guys, the breeders are more often than not getting busted for more than simply the possession of game fowl. Folks up by me with lots of birds not getting busted because they also keep their nose clean. Some also bribing neighbors with eggs and kids with educational experiences.

I went to view some Cuban roosters I saw on CL... and the owner asked to met me down the street and wanted to see my identification and asked if I was a cop. lol
He ended up gifting me a pair of Spanish Blues on X-mas... great guy.

Dubbed birds look better like it or not. Some would say keep them in an enclosed coop. Obviously that's not possible with gamefowl. Not too mention the frostbite could be worse with the amount of moisture in a coop, unless heated which usually isn't practical for most. I'm my state dubbing is "allowable" by the veterinary handbook the dept of ag based their guidelines off of. Also allowed is debeaking. So they can shove it with the dubbing argument.

It's not illegal to own, raise and sell gamefowl. It is illegal to do all three with the intent to fight. Which is the gray area written into the laws, but needs to be proven by the powers that be. Easy enough, don't fight or don't talk about it.

I may be a bit of a hypocrite though because I wouldn't set up barrels in my yard because of the attention they draw even though birds on cords have way more sq ft of grass over a pen. Predators and just general looks have something to do with it too though.

Yeah so many of those organizations squander away all that money. I like to know where it went. Wounded warrior foundation comes to mind, before they canned half the top. H*ll I don't even like ducks unlimited. I pick delta waterfowl.

Game hens will argue on the looks assessment. They think that big tall bright-red set of comb and wattles is super sexy. They tell me so.



I am not into the peacomb because in heterozygotes it often show asymmetry which to my eyes ugly unless removed. A nice straight comb so long as not big enough to make a sandwich out of is OK. Some kids like to play with the comb and wattles for some reason.
