only thing that can be done is put your chickens in a bigger covered flight pen ,and those are expensive, , hawks and owls have more rights than we do so our hands are tied ,just do your best to provide cover for them to duck under ,ive heard coyote decoy may keep hawks from diving in because in the hawks mind it may become lunch also ,good luck.

I wouldn't want to do anything to harm a hawk or owl. I would feel terrible.

1/2 Bates hatch, 1/2 Bennett Grey

I have heard that when you dub Grey cocks, their neck feathers can darken up to a light blonde (like my Grey I posted earlier) Is that true? If so how are your Greys' feathers to light white still? Any tips on preventing the neck feathers from darkening? Or does it all have to do with bloodline?

Their feathers are not going to change

The problem in we have outdoor pet chickens that my 4 y/o daughter is very attached to. I'm hoping once the boys get bigger and get their spurs in they'll scare the hawk off.
Sorry roosters wont scare off hawks ,if someone has a line of hawk bashing proven hawk slaying roosters id be the first in line to buy one ,maybe a very rare occurrence but ussually roosters run for cover also.

All my hatches range from 5.5-7lbs. But I have some spanish and crosses that are in the 4-5lbs
My Fabio Cock was 7
