Shubin,why the term Wildtype?

All my hatches range from 5.5-7lbs. But I have some spanish and crosses that are in the 4-5lbs
My Fabio Cock was 7

But this wild type is low 5s.

Cuban/Spanish are low 4's

7 pounds, that's a big boy. I would think you would know it if they hit your leg!

He was a monster, very strong but portional (good flyer with big wings). At a young age he was lanky and tall.. but filled out to 7lbs after 2-2.5 years

Wildtype is a term someone (Childress I think) came up.. He was upset that gamefowl breeders weren't specializing in gamefowl that had all the original genomes of the wild chicken (red jungle fowl)... Blueface hatch is the closest I know of.

I cross breed different game strains like crazy and they end up looking like the wild chicken, so I started using term wildtype.

I've sold a bunch using that name.

Basically the lemon hackle makes it appear to share wild traits ,im sure glad i have no wild types ,they would be so highstrung and man shy that they would be a royal pain to raise ,meaning if they were true to the wild TYPE.

That wildtype I was holding in my hand is super gentle and calm. I can pick him right up... but he was raised in a coop..

All my free range are man shy and would rather die than have me catch them.
