Centra and Havoc, I have used Purnia's or generic store brand "Moist and Meaty" dog food as treats since I was a kid. An older breeder suggested it to me. They call it the "ground hamburger" but it looks more like little worms. The chickens go nuts over it and the chicks can break the pieces as you describe.
