In addition to being game, fast, strong, durable plus things unmentionable here, good game cocks must be able to cover a hen to produce fertile eggs, good game hens should produce at least two viable clutches of eggs when covered by a fertile cock, good game hens should be able to get broody and raise chicks, good games should respond well to handling and tame rapidly, good games should have good resistance to disease and parasites occurring in the area they kept, good games should tolerate confinement well, good games be able be able to thrive in a free-range setting when predator management is sound. Multiple dimensions have always been a factor in their selection.
thats exactly what I meant... well rounded.

besides the free range part all what u said I never really thought about cause I really haven't had any of those issues except for a few man fighters.

First and foremost they got to be game, that's what I meant all the other can be dealt with as and if it comes up

Me personally, I've never seen one game enough to feed.
That's what I'm figuring. He offered to trade me a couple stags for a warhorse. I liked everything about it appearance wise, but then I put him in a large pen with 3hens, he turned into a complete wuss, unlike my Grey and Hatch BCs, (and the late great Radio)who all took command right away and didn't take no crap from any hen. I refused the offer. The ad never even stated I was looking to trade lol

Was it a warhorse cock or young stag?

What did the hens do to him?

man hacked? Is that like running away in fear?

A lot of mine would rather die than let me catch them (running into fences, flying 10ft in the air, etc)... but they definitely dont fear other roosters...

I think raising free range without handling produces fear of man... They act like I'm a predator if I go to pick one up.
