Nice havoc, short version of what I learned is to me setting the hook is harder than casting with no false casts I got that. And when something jumps out the water and rolls on a fly 20' way from u you'll have a heart attack had to have been a bull red. Had a few more hits but I think it was needle fish

no I'm done anniversary today. The black fly is all I used it worked just gotta retrain setting the hook I set it like a spinning reel. Wish I would a landed the red oh well

Yeah as soon as you yank back with the rod you will pull the fly away from the fish, or if you do it while not holding the line with your other hand not much happens at all lol
Best practice is bluegills. Oh always try to keep the rod tip pointed directly at the fly. This way your hand stripping keeps out the slack. If your line has slack in it your hand strike will be useless which I'm sure you'll see.
And most of all be patient with getting it all tangled up. After awhile it becomes second nature. It's a huge advantage over a spinning rod when you can pick the fly up and all the line off the water and put it right back down a few feet away in a sec or two especially for saltwater fish.

Nah frost or a thin layer in waterers is about the extinct with very occasional hard freezes like upper teens. It's around 50 right now
