Hi everyone, have not been keeping up just sped read through, welcome back, nice coop, duck hunting awesome, and nice birds (lol)... been working and coming home and collapsing.

Update on my injured EE hen: As you guys can see the huge scab areas have come off and the new feathers are coming in, also the skin looks good... but as you can also see she has new wounds. I slept in today my bad first day of my Vacation and all so I did not open the pen to release the hens right away and so they where fighting when I went out. (They did stop when I yelled at them... nice to know I am still alpha hen) I will not repeat that mistake tomorrow I will just get up at my normal OMG in the morning and stumble around in the pitch black and open the pen up as usual. She is eating well and spent some time inside with me after I rescued her from her flock mate, her feces moisture content looks even better this week than last as well. I have put her back out in the yard so she can get her exercise.

Looks like one's got a taste for blood. Doubt u gonna be able to stop it now. Prolly gonna have to keep her separate from now on.

x2 those pin feathers are full of blood and once they get a taste for it, they keep coming back, unfortunately. Once she is feathered out you may be able to put her back. You may try trimming the beaks of the culprits when you do. A pair of side cutters and a torch to heat them will do a nice job of trimming beaks. You want to blunt them so they cannot grab and pull. Just watch their tongues!

I'm glad to know the sota thing cause she has both yellow n green legs I'll get a pic later eating Christmas Eve dinner right now but so happy to hear that. I thought she was mixed. She came from Mississippi

To reduce motivation for cannibalism, simply up protein a little. If memory serves the flock in question is getting diet that is very low in protein.
