Rain ,rain, , Coyotes moved real well last night 40 degrees, nothing worse than skinning wet coyote ,, gotta get em out of the furshed and away from the Chicken area I dont want any extra coyote smell luring in unwanted coyote visitors ,, NO GRASS HERE to move chickens on .

I have not seen cannibalism in free-range birds with access to ample quality forage. In my setting it is easy to realize in pens and with birds that can not find good eats.

In most cases I believe it just the pens. You gotta be really screwed up to not be giving them enough protein with all the commercial feed available. Free range birds while obviously eat better overall also aren't gonna stand there and let another one peck them bloody. Some birds just flat out don't do well in pens of any kind.

lol always catch the most on the worst days. Wet raccoons ain't a whole lot better. I'll never forget big boar raccoon i caught years ago that was infested with fleas. I didn't realize it til I went to skin it. Trash bag filled with country scent raid!! God I can still smell that awful stuff. That's what nightmares are made of right there. Lotta trouble for a few dollar raccoon pelt.

There is a lot of screwed up when it comes to feed used. Sometimes it is the wrong formulation, sometimes poor storage. I see both with site visits and suspect much worse based on posted accounts.

Christmas ramping up to be merry again with a 5 year old and a 3 year old. Worked themselves up so much yesterday they are having a hard time getting up this morning.

We got one of those guns that shoot tennis balls for dogs to chase. Not to be used on house. We got a crawler type toy that will be used to chase chickens back to barn.
