I prefer to feed mine chocolate glazed munchkins and bacon. Occasionally I'll drizzle hot fudge over their feed. The kind u put in the microwave.
I'll tell u what when I mixed my feed that calf manna sure smells good

P.s. chocolate gives them high cholesterol

I think mixing pellets and scratch etc. is overall better than straight pellets but it won't make a bird any better than he is genetically. Once you factor in the cost and all it's barely worth it. I finally settled on the 20% pellets, 5 grain scratch. I mix more whole corn in winter and whole oats in summer. I sprinkle vitamins on the feed about once a week or so. Apple cider vinegar in water a couple times a week. Summer time acidified copper sulfate occasionally in water.

Yeah I know. Some of those gambird show pellets for feathers smell good too. Same company makes em. They don't taste as good as they smell though. I'll take the munchkins.

The birds don't really seem to like the water with vitamins in it so I started just putting it in their feed. They drink the water just fine with ACV in it though so I stick with that.
H*ll it all may be a waste of time who knows.

Ruble pullet strutting away after she handed down a free of charge beat down to another ruble pullet.
Disregard the face in the bottom right. Just an old layer hen.

Every pullet this year has blue legs except one. The one green legged pullet came equipped with a set of spurs.

Should be fun, post pictures I'd like to see the build.
I've had this holiday week off work and loving it. Building and planting stuff like crazy. Been to Home Depot and Lowe's twice already.
