when i was growing up we used an old mailbox in the same way/ definitely more fire/ it worked great for parties lol
that thing gets plenty hot. You could cook weenies on it and I ruined a pair of gloves today. Almost my hands too.

Ha, u can still see where she's missing feathers around the base of her skull where he fought her a few months ago. I had to separate them so hopefully this time around is better but u know stags they can be a lil bi-polar

Something about some stags, even some bullstags, makes so hens will try to fight them. It has something to do with voice. Once fight gets going in a pen, the hen or pullet is likely in deep doodoo even when backing off. If a hen / pullet does not submit immediately then either another pairing is tried or female spends a little more time conditioning. A fair portion of my bullstags do not get time in breeding pen because I cannot trust them. To line bread to hen side I let the two come together in the open near the stags turf, then both go back to their respective pens.

The initial meeting went very well compared to my blues. Usually with them its like 2 cocks meeting. I can rarely get them to be ok unless they grow up together or if both the cock and hen are over 2yrs. Granted I could go check now and she could be dead.
I put her in yesterday and him in today and it's a big pen not like putting her in his dome with nowhere to go in his territory, we'll see. Got a few more to do to.
