Ha, question. What bird of pray is about guess 4-5' wing span bright orange beak, seems mostly dark brown or black and looks like its lighter on it underside flying over almost a grey or something. Yeah I know kinda vague.
turkey vulture

We have a lot of vultures I think it didn't have the vulture head. Also have bald eagles may have been that more so than the vulture but when I see it again I'll pay more attention.

When the wind it right Bald Eagles fly over low. They do have obvious white patches scattered about which really separates them from vultures. They fly very differently. Eagles have a rubbery look when flapping. Shape different too. Believe it or not, I still have Turkey Vultures up here this winter. First time I have seen any stay.

If you guys ever get a wild hair about raising young birds going into winter, then do not do it. Too much trouble. I am committing all acts of stupid to get these guys protected from elements and my mismanagement.

I've raised a few going through winter. Yours may be a bit younger though. Your right though it's a pain. As long as they're kept dry and the wind is off em for the most part they're fine. Plus a little extra feed.

You can easily tell a hawk from a vulture since a hawk has to flap his wings far more often to stay in flight. Hawks can't soar like a vulture can. Watch them long enough and you'll notice.
