Yes, hen is one of the white toppy/muff crosses I got last fall. Black chick one the eggs my son placed in the nest. Other, better hen managed to drown in watering trough. I have lost chicks that way but never adults. There appears to be more than two color morphs as color alleles are segregating. I think a couple of the chicks will mature as wheaton while the non-wheaton chicks are split between BBR and something that will make for some sort of splash. Either way the hen has brought with her chick types I have never seen before.
 
I've got a bunch of eggs in going to boil and feed them to the boys.
Questions is, do I give them the whole egg? Or just half?
 
I give them the whole egg,
the clear runny stuff is the potential chick, the yolk(yellow stuff) is the food for the developing chick.
I don't cook them for them,
