So quick question how come sometimes u have birds that come out of the brooder nice full feathers and then other batches just don't get along and are half bald when they come out the brooder. My first redquill are perfectly in tact second batch from a different source look like featherless chickens.
If all things the same, it could be that this second breed is bit rougher than previous.
Or maybe some conditions changed (feed, temp, bedding, # of chicks, etc) that caused some feather pecking to occur.
Maybe add something to keep them occupied.. like one of the those chick feeding blocks, or swinging perches, or dust bathe area. etc.
Those upside-down dusters look like they would reduce stress for newly hatched chicks. Been wanting to try that....
