BTW the hen that got all torn up you all helped me with I think is not a Blue gene but probably a Lavender due to feather quality issues that match that gene.

Feather quality issues are from breeding and not contained to any specific color... Lavender (self blue) is just more known and common to have it due to mass propagation rather than good breeding management...

It sounds like individual notes are played backwards and is more nasal. Producers of the "song" hold the heads up. The call is repeated more frequently that typical contact calls. It is very similar to the sounds two hens make when threatening each other before a fight. It is easy to witness when two rival broods come together.

Thank you... I will look for that now... layer breeds are nowhere near as complicated as these, lol...

Yeah getting worse by the day. I hate it. Sometimes I'll try to rake them up in the yard after a rain.

Ducks molt twice a year, try having a yard full of those, lol...
