Okay here is that hen with the poor feather quality, she has lots of broken frayed feathers... I think it is genetic issue. They other hen looks great... I thought about molting too but when I look at her close broken feathers all over, not like when she molted last time. They are not having tiffs either, in fact they are best buddies again. What I am thinking is Lavender self blue versuses blue as those genes often pair with feather genes that weaken the feathers... lavender birds require careful breeding to get away from the shredded feather look.

That's blue (Andalusian blue) not lavender (self blue)... and it is not in all lavender, just some lines... has to do with the slow feathering gene, K...

Definitely could be poor genetics... another cause could be lack of proper preening or a malfunctioning oil gland... if the feathers are not oiled regularly, they will dry out and become brittle, easily frayed... ask havoc about feathers improperly kept for long periods of times... or flies used over and over...

Hot and humid here to but I know you got me beat on the humidity. I was soaking wet after feeding a few minutes ago.

Toll tag = no big deal
Visor fly holder = big deal if it falls off. Lol
