All the "kit" coops I've seen seem awfully overpriced. I think they leech off of unknowing, got to have chickens right now naive people that don't know no better.

We build all our own. They may not be pretty... but they give more space and I can move them around. The pre built ones are always so small I might only keep 2 or 3 bantams in them. For the cost I can get a 10ft x 10ft dog kennel and add a tarp for a roof and put in a roost and a nest box.

I also have to admit, for breeding pairs... I use dog gazebos. Just because they are adorable. Lol. Pricey for the size, but they look cute in the yard and easily moved to fresh grass at any time. I try to keep all the pens moved around so they can eat grass and catch some bugs rather than just sitting on dirt.

That black is a bad sob. He was hard to catch after free ranging last year. He took on all of them got hurt in the process. He single leggedly cut my numbers down. He's starting to molt now but he's been rough looking. Should turn out pretty good.

@sdm111 I sent u a pic of that black he was all messed up, had em in the house awhile back. cleaning him up. He's a champ. Had to pull him from the pen with chicks. He's no problem but the hen was flipping out in there because of him.

My leiper is definitely molting. He looks pure pitiful today. Lol. Hopefully soon he'll be finished and I can show him off. He's lost his one scraggly long tail feather, and his neck feathers look awful, like a balding man's head. Lol.
