I wholeheartedly agree with you. I am not afraid to say it though. Without modified military style weapons there is no way he could have done what he did. That's a fact. Bombs and other ways obviously he could have.There is nothing in the Constitution restricting people from owning "Attack Weapons." Many ar15's are used for sporting. Eliminating them doesn't stop the problem.
People are the problem. Crazy or not, it takes a person to shoot someone else. The gun is just a tool. Look at Chicago. Toughest gun laws in the nation. What have those laws done to help the problem?
Any type of firearm restriction only hurts the law abiding citizens. Criminals do not care about laws.
The real reason people want these kinds of guns is the fact that law enforcement all started using them first. The idea of protecting yourself from your own government is solid. That's the only argument that holds up. AR-15 rifles while legal to hunt with in many places sure don't look like sporting arms to the sheeple. Good luck convincing them cause if you can't it's over.
