I think many take such things for granted and will breed birds just because of a specific heritage. IMO, it is not just about maintaining a name, but the quality associated with that linage. Breeding in not for everyone.
I agree but I do stay within parameters due to culture/heratage

I like vigor smartness feathering and I like station
Perhaps in days gone by those were all assumed and given. The fine tuning came in performance, the ultimate test.

Agreed, but how do breeders pass this down to new potential breeders that have never seen these fowl in action?

Everyone is beating around the bush a bit here. If they aren’t tested performance wise then it’s an educated guess at best. Regardless of any name attached. Me included.

that's the kicker. The two types of gamefowl the pretty ones and the ones still pitted. Some will keep the real deal going but unfortunately due to laws most will only be pretty to look at like mine

lol. I thought yours have more than just their looks going for them.

that is odd. Don't know how that happened. Have you made any headway on pens?

Yep, I think I'm ok on pens this year, with all the losses by coons, dogs, and possums won't be needing as many as I thought.
How're things going for You?
