It is considered a fault for showing BBR birds, but I am not sure about any impact on physical performance. Many BBR show lines have a male and female line because they are breeding for two opposed colors, the black and red. A solid black breast in the male bleeds over in to red areas. And really red areas bleed into the black. It has been a long time, but I think the really red males with red in their breast make for nice coloring in the females. I could have it backwards though...Lmljsl someone once told me black streaks in the red hackles mean something and it's considered a fault for show. Do you know anything about that?
