That's the only picture I've got of him. He's the only one I've got out and out that was a throwback to the typewriter blue.
I know that Typewriters don't come looking like a yellow leg Claret unless someone has added some other blood to them. I've been breeding Typewriters since the mid 80s, you can in-breed them several times and they still come looking like the Irish blue hens. I have had a couple stags that looked a lot like the Butchers but they still had some blue color. When Judge Wilkens was gifted 3 Irish blue hens in 1938 he put them on a yard with a Marsh Butcher cock. Then a year later he ordered all the stags to be culled because of their color but his son took all of them to his home and finished raising them. His son then took one of them to a hack fight and won it in a couple pittings. The Judge went and picked up all the cocks plus the one his son fought. The Typewriters got their name when the Judge was feeding them in tin cups from the sound they were making. The Judge made them famous from the first 21 cock main he fought against Col. Madigin. I wish I still had the original blood that I had in the 80s. This is one of my Typewriter cocks.

That dang Typewriter cock I posted is a mean sob, the guy I got him from fought him 3 times as a stag and he was molting. They couldn't kill him or run him off, but when he was in his 3rd he got coupled and still won. If you look at him in that picture you can tell his legs are farther apart than normal, all I needed him to do is be able to top a hen. He hates people period, once I get him in my hands he's ok, but until then you enter at your own risk.

That’s the bird the punched a hole in my sweatshirt awhile back. I say I’m gonna cull him once a week but he lives on lol
He’s funny. Hell peck the sh*t out of me when my hands get too close yet i can feed him the tiniest piece of grass and he takes it real gentle. Crazy bird.
