Rain/snow wind 50-60 mph tomorrow. Some are laying some ain’t. Too early to be hatching birds around here anyway. I don’t want them too high station.

No broody hens yet... but the nests are filling up and should be soon. itll be really nice in 21 days... perfect for chicks.
I need to setup a net over coops... hawk took all my American/Cuban chicks. They have nest on property.

Where were the chicks?
with mama hen... but she was in coop and the chicks would wonder around the outside

Another went broody today and two hens yet to start laying. They look like they should start any day now.

I don’t worry. They’ll lay when they’re ready. I ain’t running a factory farm so it don’t matter to me. Once they all start it’s a full time job just collecting them all.
Yep... but didnt want to take away from mama... I moved some coops around to try to give them better coverage and impede hawks path. but Now I know I need full coverage...
Not too worried about it. They were really early chicks and hawks need to eat too.

So true, but I enjoy seeing the next round of little ones each spring.
I saw a possum rescue earlier today on facebook, it had it's head and a leg in a six pack ring.
they are seeking donations to continue their good work.
