We are approaching situation where increasing photoperiod would result in a 24-h lights on requirement to get what you suggest. Somewhere you are missing they were in lay when photoperiod was a good 1.5 hours shorter just a month or so ago.
I thought you live in Missouri, not Alaska. Sometimes a little extra, an hour or two of light, makes the difference. Since they were laying 1.5 months ago, they should be in fine condition this time of year. In commercial poultry, and I realize you are working with American Dominiques, there are very few inputs to influence laying abilities, genetics being one of the major inputs, environment is close behind, such as lighting. Good luck with them!

This guy best I have based on offspring by two hens of his same line.

I just penned him with two hens and a pulleys also of same line. All three females with serious spurs.

In Missouri but have practical limitations. I use photoperiod manipulation all the time but will not employ it with a heritage breed reputed to suitable for limited resource poultry keepers.
