At what average age do your stags get their "courage" or have to be penned? I have a beautiful little blue stag, maybe 1/4" spurs, that is throwing me. He is a fast feathering bird, so he looks more mature than some of the earlier hatched stags, but he will not challenge older stags. Trying to decide what to do with him...

Do you have younger birds that are challenging? If you do I would put him in a pen for a week or two and then drop him back out and see what he does.

I'd have to agree every stag I had if I put another male in front of them at 4months they were ready to roll. My last stag was penned around 4months and that's the fella havoc likes it just took him a little longer. I could even get the other stags out of their pens by using one I had done caught they are just ready to hate another male at the drop of a pen.

No, he is about 6.5 months. He dominates the younger stags but will not challenge older penned stags.

Yes, most of them nature faster than this stag. He is a beautiful little stag, so I have been holding off on culling him...
