Yeah true that. Hector have all his sons his long sturdy legs with them fat spurs. Also gave them that great station. They're a confident bunch.

I read somewhere that a breeder, maybe Mel himself, but I forget, kept his birds with dark brown/black eyes, and when the offspring eyes started getting red, that was a signal he used to refresh the blood. Y'all ever hear anything like that?

I’ve never heard it but it kinda makes sense in a way. I guess you’d have to know with 100% certainty what he bred in and out though.
