Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I would love to see them, too, my Harters are just a few weeks or so younger, I think. I am bringing my third best to Crossroads if I can convince him a bath won't kill him.

We haven't had a Delaware chick here in ages, but I let Nugget have one Dellie egg to hatch for her last broody spell. She's a happy camper with her new baby, now over 2 weeks old. When she lets it go, I'll have to find a home for the little man since I have to keep room for my Rocks now. His daddy is my avatar. I'm already thinking cockerel, how about you?

Beth, when you were here, this one hadn't started getting the top feathers on the wings and the comb was still tiny, so I wasn't even trying to sex it yet, but a couple days afterward, suddenly, I could see a glimpse of boy there. Too bad it wasn't Ellie's baby-hers were mostly pullets.

Generally, Georgie's sons turn out too dark, but time will tell. At least, if he has his dad's personality/temperament, he'll be a great flock rooster for someone, even if he's a pet quality Delaware. He's going to have a gorgeous comb, I can already tell.

Well I hadn't intended to hatch but when the hen went broody and she was a Del I thought what the heck. She quit or decided to not bother since the other hens kept pestering her and now I've got 4 chicks, (3 dels) in the incu. One more to go and hopefully it will hatch before I have to move them to the brooder.

I should have moved her to a private place but quite frankly was to lazy and wasn't all that concerned if they didn't hatch. Out of ten there were five left. I thought they were all Dels but it must be that while ALL the girls were out in the yard a orp got in there and laid one for her. It could be an EE I'm not really sure except it's black with black feet. I do have black or roos but no hens so I have no idea and only hope its a girl.

We've go snow in the forcast for tomorrow, *sigh*, There was talk of my getting rid of all the chickens and moving south to AL for the winter, but we know how that went. DW was ok with it but I wasn't. DD is moving back home so she wouldn't be by herself. She did say she'd take care of the chickens for 6 wks though.

I hate the cold and snow.
