What does the Delewegger's father look like? This is probably a dumb question cuz I think I know the answer, but what color eggs do Deleweggers lay? I like the way they look!!

The Delawegger's father is a Delaware and the mom an EE.

Cyn, I got lucky becasue a fellow BYC'r contacted me and asked if I had an extra Delaware rooster. I was going to let him have Herbie but then I decided to let him have Herbie's dad. If the Delawegger is a cockeral then he has to go.

I don't know what color eggs they lay but I have heard that if they have the pea comb then they should lay a green egg.

My Del pullets are still laying up a storm, I usually get 6 to 7 eggs a day from 7 girls. This line is not as correct in the body as my other, but they are layers!

I thought you all had some special chick training method!

All my hens have stopped laying. I don't mind that they need a break. My SH Dels were the best layers I've ever had and I'm curious to see if they continue in their second year. They don't have the huge, desired bowl shape. Do the strains only do well at either laying or have better meat qualities? Or are there truly dual purpose Dels that have it all?

Scott, congrats on the hatch!
