I just went out and took some pics of my two delaware pullets! (one is 15 weeks, and the other is 13 weeks, sorry there are so many pics!)

I dont see barring on her, is she part of your breeding project?(the silver one ofcourse)

As soon as the younger ones get a little bigger, I will pick through them to see who will move on to the next generation. I think some of the older ones will be laying within a month.

Wow I love those bodies, I love those heads. Is one of those a pullet with barred tail feathers? I know it's not correct but I think it's nice looking. Is there a reason why the original Delaware hens were selected for black tails with white edging? Hopefully this isn't a stupid question!

Yes. The barring will turn to black (in the female's tails). Or, I should say, it did in my other Delawares. Since this is a project, I am just assuming it will. Well, actually, I do have a few that it has happened in.

I don't breed chickens, I don't have enough room in my small plot of land, I didn't want any roosters, so I can't breed, we got the 2 dellies because we wanted some good brown egg layers, who are friendly, and they were supposed to be VERY friendly.

my roosters have been friendly. i may take a break from breeding them to concentrate on the cubalayas but will get back to them and the australorps.
