Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Thanks for the link. That was interesting. I did PM a guy who started a sexlinked thread a while back and he answered saying no this won't work, so I guess if I'm going to continue with my red sexlinks, I'll need to get some more Delawares or a nice Delaware cockerel down the road. I'm not sure how long these Delaware hens will be productive, they are going into their second year and I see a drop off in egg production now. I'd rather not get hatchery birds, been there, done that.

It seems that there are two of the very same threads of this. Or is it just my compute?

It seems I replied earlier today that I would like some hatching eggs in April or May.

Deja vu all over again?

I just saw your post about hatching eggs on the chantecler thread.

Hi Lacy

Yes I have four breeds that I want to increase with this year, all what I consider home stead breeds that have proven themselves and are good for cooler areas.

So I am looking for eggs, chicks or started ones of each. I am aiming for about a dozen or so of each in hens with a couple roosters. I will be comparing each breed and keeping track of when they start laying size and growth and hardiness as well as meat production. And efficiency.

Much to do this year.

Hi. :) I am amazed I JUST found this thread!! I have a bunch of pics of my dell to share, but first I have one quick question... Has anyone noticed Delawares being more susceptible to Marek's disease, or is it just that we had a HORRIBLE outbreak? because when we first started out, we had NO IDEA What Marek's was, and apparently our chicks weren't vaccinated, and we put them in the same coop (Separated by chicken wire) from the adult birds. In all, we started with 25, and one by one, they all keeled over of Mareks... Except my lucky boy, Tommy... So, i have tons of pics of many delaware babies, but 1 main remaining Rooster. We are going to try pullets again this year.

Hello
I am fairly new to this site. But have had chickens for many years. I live in New Jersey. And have a small flock of Delawares. And a friend of mine has a flock also. We are looking for the bigger type. Just for laying. Not really looking for the best for shows. If there is anyone out there that is close to us. That may have eggs-chicks or started and even some adults. Please contact me.....Thanks.....Nick
