Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

This is the largest chick out if my first Delaware hatch. It's almost 5 weeks old and nearly twice the size of the others. Also the largest and only red comb. I'm hoping for a roo, but it's really white all over. I read the boys have more color, so IDK.
I'm by know way an expert but I would only go 70% its a cockerel - I've got some slow [not size] developers at 7 weeks that could still go either way.
You really can't be certain of coloration until first molt IMHO . I just weighed some at 5 weeks for a comparison if you want to weigh it.
14 Birds - Largest 14 Oz - smallest [Runt] 8.2 Oz and average was 11.57 oz [These are my Blue line from Kathys line.]

Thanks everyone! Out of 7 hatched, this one was the only one that looked roo-ish to me. One can hope, right? :D
I will see if I can get mine to sit still for one second. lol And take a few updated pics. I will have PLENTY of roos!! I think half of my 25 are going to be roos. Mine already have bright red combs and wattles.
That chunky monkey was easy to get a picture of, but getting him separated from the others was a chore! Aren't yours about the same age as mine? Mine hatched May 10-12.

Happy Chickens !!

Its very interesting the colors I am getting on my Delaware chicks, the first chick was dark, now graying with white showing up, the others are white, with some black tipping on the wings, none are feathered out yet, still downy babies.

I am going to start marking all the chicks , other then the Iowa Blues, which are uniformly black with SP. The Icelandics are varied also, but that is the norm for them. I hoping to get some eggs of Kathys new release sometime this summer. Its going to be an interesting hatching season.

Does anyone have a good picture of what qualifies as 'green legs'? I have one chick with nearly orange legs, a couple with yellow, and then a couple with what I'd call dusky yellow legs. None of them scream green like the legs on some of my EE's. I'll try to take pictures this afternoon of the variations in my small group to show what I mean. This picture is what I think of when someone mentions green legs (not a Delie, an all white EE at 5 weeks):

Or are we talking about something much more subtle?

Green legs can be a range....... Your pic. is an extreme case :) Bottom line is Delaware legs should be yellow, fairly bright when young and usually fading as they age/egg lay. The fading is ok, but still yellow. I have had chicks hatch with almost white looking legs from parents with yellow legs and their legs yellowed with time and free-range so I am sure in my case that feed plays a part. Have not had much experience with the green as never hatched any myself, but I have some chicks from a new line that have green, much more faded looking than your pic.

Cutie EE by the way!

Diet can be a big factor in leg coloring, but for me its not even a factor for me to track. Unless its shown to be traveling with other more important genes.

None of my chicks show other then yellow legs, as do the parents.

I am building up a stock of these but I do want to buy some eggs from someone with the later developments in breeding. Right now my stock has a narrow genetic base.
