I have numbered leg bands on all of mine. The only way. After I clean them, I soak them ice water for 4 days. I put mine on the grill. One thing you will learn, no matter what you do the texture will never match the birds in the store. Unless you put your meat birds in a 1x1 pen and never let them run. Unlike store meat birds yours will have great muscle tone, which will lead to tougher meat. Just like a wild animal. Animals in the wild are always tougher. Just the way it is.

Well I put a camera out and found the corn thief - actually I think there is two - one a little younger than this

The 300x30" strip of corn is on the left of its head - about 60% is destroyed.
But its a wildlife food plot and I guess it qualifies for the food bank LOL

Tom is it a female? if not you should get a bear tag.

Has anyone else noticed the num. of bears are up this yr? Here in the mtns of NC my neighbors are constantly getting their feeders pushed over by them. They live higher on the hillside than I do ;so see more of them. But I have noticed with the excessive rain we have had that there seems to be more wildlife here. Deer, bear, raccoons and groundhogs this yr.

Gloria Jean, I just heard a report that the black bear attacks on humans are up 64%, or something along those lines, now. They are bulking up for hibernation so that may have something to do with it. We should all use caution until they are safely tucked away for winter.

Tractor , mower or 4 wheeler . When I'm in the back area I always take Dan with me. Dan is my Dan Wesson 6" .357 Magnum revolver

Yep I have even noticed Rabbit number are about triple what we usually see. The year of plenty.

I wonder if their numbers are up or if the rain has forced them into contact with people more. It's destroyed my vegetable garden this year, so I imagine it has to be affecting their wild foods too.
I think all the rain has just produced more "human grown" goodies this year. This is only my second year for corn and last year it burnt out by Mid July and only 5' high - this is mid July this year and everything is plentiful.- This is the other end of corn from where Bear Pic is- I get Bear Pics every spring but this year there is food to hold them but usually they move on .
Even wild Blackberries were very plentiful this year. The only thing I notice is less is the wild persimmon trees are light on fruit. But don't know why.

Don't need a tag on our own property in VA -Do need to register - Haven't nor do I want to get close enough to check sex LOL - Here sex doesn't matter . Don't know how to tell anyway unless has cubs with it .
