Due to the rain the pollen on the persimmons may have been washed off or the bees inactive . I had periods of heavy rain and then just gray skies. I still am.!!!!!!! I think this summer is the year of the monsoons.

Great thinking - I didn't think of that - very good possibility . The other thing I thought was maybe with all these T storms we have had a lot of excess winds and it could have destroyed a lot of the flowers when in bloom.
Lost lots of trees and branches this year . Took several off the Black Walnut by the house.

I have black walnuts growing wild here too. But they are next to the creek about 300 ft. away from the house. Still every year I am pulling seedlings from my flowers and gardens. The squirrels take them everywhere. They have a chemical that kills most other vegetation around them. I do not like that at all up around the garden beds and flowers. Well there is the rain again. I knew it would be back again today. I have finally broken down and am going to get a perm in this short flyaway hair of mine. Yuck! Its the only way to control it right now though. I will look lots better again. More like ,but older than my pic. for sure.

Took my 2 *Bantam* delaware hens into the fair last week, and had them accidentially signed in under STANDARD. After they laid an egg each, I went to change the sign up from "any other standard" to "Any Other Single Combed Clean Legged Bantam" and turns out mom had already mailed in the forms. So we went in as "any other standard Pullet" and the judges comments were "A little small, but if you are keeping them for breeding, keep the one with darker legs. these are a rare breed. hard to find". We got a white each (I loaned one to a friend who wanted to show chickens). They were not happy at bath time though!! Mine flapped white-n-brite shampoo in my face...
