Tim is correct, that there's more than one reason to breed Delawares. Actually, my Isaac ain't too shabby according to the standard, plus he's a big meaty guy, to boot!

IMO, any endangered breed ought to be bred toward the standard so you don't just propagate them rather than breed to put great breed examples in the gene pool. If all folks wanted was to propagate meat birds, you can do that with any chunky crossbreed.

I know I feed my flock very well; they are healthy, happy, etc .... AND, they will taste alot better than the chicken I buy at the store.
 
Yes I plan to eat mine too and that's why I have too many of them because I don't want to have to say goodbye.

I love my babies. The only good thing is they all look alot alike and I won't know who is who for the most part.

Now I must say that my two Dellies are perfect. One is a a perfect sweetie pie and one is a perfect MEANIE....LOL
