You know I would! How far away from my are you gonna be living? I think you are gonna be closer to me than to Cyn; less than 8 hours away. My zip is 64772. Mapquest and see the distance.

You all got the jump on me today, and must be full of caffeine .... with all these posts already.

Everyone .... have a great day!

Oh yeah, must be something to do with Turkens, huh? Well I'll give you fair warning as this guy (biomistake) really loves a conversation, I think he can talk about anything under the sun, he's a hoot. He took after his Grandpa Bill, he's deffinately got the gift of gab. Anyway glad ya'll are going to meet and get to enjoy one anothers company.

And to the rest of you guys on here, I just thought I was a hatching fool till I joined this site and I don't hold a candle to even the one that has talked about hatching the least on here. I do have an incubator full now but I'm only gonna hatch about 3 settings this spring or until I get better set up as I've just relocated about 6 mos. ago back to the homestead and still have to put together my barn and chicken yard and make it for easier operation, such as seperate pens for breeding and such. Should get a lot done this spring I hope and maybe soon I shall be in bussiness with my own breeding operations. Gonna be looking for a few more Dellie girls to put in with my few sometime in the future so maybe (hint, hint) you all will keep me in mind.

My Dellie roo that has chosen me to keep (Alabaster) is crowing and already talking to the girls, calling them to feed and such, so looks as if he's narrowed down the choosing between him and his brother, but I'm still gonna keep the other for now as a back-up because as everybody knows there's always something waiting around the corner to mess things up for ya. Anyway I'll get off here and hope evrybody has a wonderful day.

By the way it's a snowing and sleeting in Louisiana again today. This is so strange, heck I don't remember it snowing like this in NW Ark. this much when I lived there a few years back.

I trimmed the beaks of the Dels that were picking at my roo. I just trimmed the hook off the very end with a pair of nail clippers, and used a my file to smooth the sharp edges off. When I put my roo back in the pen, they tried to pick his wattles, but were unable to get a good hold of them. His wattles just slipped right out of their beak undamaged. It might be worth a try if the girls keep picking at Isaac.

I agree. I do plan to try that when DH is able to help me today. I think removing the sharp part is a great idea, as someone has suggested to me, but just haven't gotten the time to do it.

If Ike goes home with Ladyhawk, I may grow out an Ameraucana rooster. I could keep some girls and put them in with the Delaware women, so I could easily tell the eggs apart and the evil pickers wouldn't have wattles or a real comb to get hold of. That could work! That is, if I don't just decide to rehome the Del girls entirely. They are really sweet ladies to us, but I can't have my Isaac eaten alive.

Just got back from the pens. Had to "force" Jennifer to pick the 3 silkies we are going to keep as our "broodie mamas". Looks like she picked out 2 splash and 1 black.

Anyway, while I was out there I had to give some attn to "Mini" and "Sweet pea" my too "undersized del girls". Mini is just fine, but looks like she will be bantam sized. Sweet Pea isn't too well. Her "hernia" is larger and seems to be causing her some difficulty getting around. Her backside looks like it stays constantly damp/wet as the hernia is just below her vent area...guessing everything is sticking to her. Also, noticed that her toes are beginning to curve severely! UUGGHH

The two Houdans in the pen next to her will be gone tomorrow and I am going to isolate her in there and see if being by herself will help her to heal at all. I called my local vet....she is willing to operate on her, but it would cost me $250-300 and I would still just have a "dwarf del".. I don't think I can see my way clear to spend that on her. I know that sounds cruel, but.....

Anyone else have any suggestions? I'm willing to keep her as long as she lives, but just need to find some ways to help her out. I hate seeing her in this condition

THANKS

Scott, I don't believe she will live. I had to kill my 2 roo dwarfs. I felt they were suffering, and put an end to it. They can't be breeders anyway. I don't think it is cruel at all. That is ALOT of money!
